One of the most desirable cities in the U.S., Westlake was founded in 1956. It lies about 12 miles west of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and is surrounded by the towns of Roanoke, Trophy Club, and Southlake. The city can be found approximately 30 to 40 minutes from Denton and the city of Dallas-Fort Worth and is populated by about 13,500 people with more than 50 employers. Its main neighborhoods include Quail Hollow, Westlake Entrada, Glenwyck Farms, Stagecoach Hills, Wyck Hill, Paigebrook, Aspen Estates, Knolls at Solana, Granada, Vaquero, and Carlyle Court Addition. 

Best known for its top-class commercial developments, master-planned neighborhoods, and Westlake Academy, Westlake covers seven square miles from the Denton County border to Northeast Tarrant. Forbes Magazine recognized the city as the most affluent community in the U.S., and it is considered the best suburb in Dallas. Westlake hosts several corporate headquarters and many small businesses. It is a charming mix of the metroplex’s conveniences and rural Texas atmosphere.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

In Westlake, Solna is home to many of the best restaurants. MarCocina is a Tex-Mex restaurant, though it also serves gourmet and pasta dishes. With the best margarita in the city, it creates special meals in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Meanwhile, La Scala Pizzeria is a family-owned and operated Italian diner established in 1996. The restaurant is innovative, creative, and dedicated to high quality, using traditional methods and the finest ingredients.

Social Oak - Wine & Whiskey Lounge is an upscale facility, providing customers over 250 wines and 95 whiskeys. The chic lounge is welcoming and energetic and has a stylish patio. In addition to the fine drinks, it serves delicious food. Southlake Town Square is a shopping mall full of upscale boutiques, restaurants, and stores, including Coach, Allen Edmonds, and Johnny Was. Home to over 120 shops, the open-air facility provides shoppers with a wide selection of options, beautiful surroundings, and the venue of many community events.
 

Things to Do

Westlake hosts the Annual Concert Series each spring and fall. It usually takes place at the Solana Plaza Thursday evenings. Hosted by the Town of Westlake and TXRE, it is a great place to spend time with the community. The Westlake Classic Car Show is another yearly event that takes place on October’s third Saturday. Showcasing the automobile’s golden era, guests can view models from classic, vintage cars to restored automobiles. 

On the first Thursday after Thanksgiving, Westlake presents the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event features carriage rides, cookie decorating, holiday-themed live performances, photos with Santa, a reindeer petting zoo, and hot drinks, among other activities. Hundreds of people come every year to see the tree light up. Historical Marker Dedication Days are held semi-regularly in the fall and spring. They are educational dedication programs, informing people of the strong ties to the history of Westlake and the surrounding region.

Glenwyck Park covers 13.5 acres of open green area speckled with pecan and oak trees, some 60 feet tall. Featuring a paved walking path and three bridges over a running brook, the lush Glenwyck Park opens at dawn, closes at dusk, and is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Vaquero Club has a beautiful par-71 golf course, ideal for all experience levels and open all year. The clubhouse is 42,000 square feet, providing a place for neighbors to eat or work out.
